Laura Bailie is an experienced and dedicated specialist flute teacher, with over 20 years experience of working in schools, her own private teaching practice and education projects. She works with students of all ages and abilities and believes in having a fun and relaxed approach to learning. Ultimately, she believes that music can enhance a person's self-confidence and she encourages her students to develop their own 'voice'.

Having studied flute with David Nicholson at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, she continued her studies with Harrie Starreveld at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam and then, having been awarded a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship, with Kate Lukas and Jacques Zoon at Indiana University in the States.

As a freelance orchestral player she has worked with many orchestras including the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Halle Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the Paragon Ensemble. She has performed in the UK, Europe, USA and Japan, including appearances at the Edinburgh International festival, St. Magnus Festival and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music festival. She has broadcast for BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio Scotland, Radio Nederlands and the American Public Radio. As a current and founding member of the Scottish Flute Trio, she has recorded works for Metier Label, NaturalSound and, most recently, www.seventhings.com.
